Volunteers Needed!

We have a number of volunteer opportunities here at the rescue.

We have been working on the new cat pen during the week wrapping it on the bottom as well as the top with 17 gauge wire.

We also put caulk about the top of the pen to help with noise when we put the metal roof on it.

We will need help in the morning to put the roof on and wrap the pen with chicken wire so the kittens can not get out of the wholes in the chain link.

We also need volunteers for the adoption event on August 6th at Tractor Supply.

We have finally started on our event to raise money for families in financial need to spay and neuter their animals.  We will really need several volunteers to pull event off and make it a success.  Please contact us if you have any interest in helping with this event or if you would like more information about it.

And don't forget about the hot tub.  We are still looking for a plumber to help us with that as well as volunteers to help dig the whole.

We look forward to hearing from you!

We Started On The New Outside Cat Pen Yesterday!

We started working on the outside cat pen yesterday.  We still have a ways to go but at least the frame is put together.

Another thing we are working on is something to give the dogs relief from this heat wave we are having!

We have several large plastic containers that were donated to us recently that we have used as water troughs for the dogs.  The containers are a hit with the dogs and they have been getting a lot of use!

Since some of the dogs are very large and it is very hot, so we decided that it would be a good idea for them to have a pond.

We posted for donations for a hot tub and quickly received a response.  This is the new hot tub that is in one of the pens.  We had a lot of fun taking down the chain link panels to get this huge thing in the first dog pen!

(Look closely in the back ground and you can see a dog sitting in a water trough.)  Now we were very excited about this idea but we have discovered that it comes with some problems.  (Besides just getting it in the pen!)  The hot tub has wholes in the bottom of it that need to be filled.  They are small holds so they would block quickly and not allow for water to drain.  We will need to fill these wholes and then we need to install a large drain at the bottom of the hot tub.  The dogs get the water very muddy so we are sure it will need to be drained from time to time.  We are also digging a whole for the hot tub so it does not sit so high and the dogs can get in easier.  If you are a plumber and can help with the drainage of this hot tub or if you just want to help us dig the whole, Please come on over!  Your help is very needed!  Thank you!

New Outside Cat Pen

We received a donation yesterday from Cindy and Robert Harper of Irving.  They donated a very nice 10x12 chain link pen.  After much discussion we have decided to make this pen the outside cat pen.  We will start putting it together this weekend.  Volunteers are very welcome and needed!!
